I just took the GoPro and included battery out of the box 30 minutes ago. The camera turns on when I plug it into a computer or outlet but gives the No Batt sign in the top right corner and refuses to charge or turn on.
Remove the battery and side doors on a HERO5 Black, a HERO6 Black, a HERO (2018), or a HERO7 camera. HERO7 Black. HERO7 Silver. HERO7 White. HERO6 Black. HERO5 Black. HERO (2018) Open the Battery door. Open/ close the Side Door.
this happened a bit ago with my hero 7 white and still does once in a while. Try plugging it into a laptop or something with a lower power output to charge it. When this happens I let it sit plugged into my pc overnight and try again in the morning. If the charging light is on your good to go.

1.I discharged my GoPro to ~1% battery. 2.Pluged in Powerbank (13000mAh) 3.Started recording ~ 15minutes. 4.Kept screen on, 2,7K60fps PT/On . Test took me 15 minutes. GoPro didnt die. After 15 minutes battery level was 3%. Results: 1. GoPro will use full power battery as long as level of it will be > 0% than will use powerbank. 2.

I purchased a brand new GoPro hero 7 black not even a month back and it's my first product ever from GoPro. Everything seems to be working fine except the battery loses charge even when the camera is turned off. I had fully charged the camera and when I turned it on after about 4-5 days later, it didn't turn on, I had to charge it and the No software update has been able to fix them, Result is that these issues make the GoPro Hero 7 Black an unreliable product in situations that require flawless video recording. See my video on system crashes and recording faults related to external power banks: As last resort I tried to overcome the flaws by using multiple batteries. 2. Restore Default settings of the device. 3, Reformat SD card. 4. Hundred times of Reinsert battery and SD card. 5. Test with different cables and adapters. 6. Test with a new GoPro battery.
This is a short commentry on how to use an external battery with a GoPro Hero 7 Black camera, or at least it is a reflection of my experience. Yes, it can be done but it needs some planning. My first source of information was to look at the user manual which may be downloaded from the GoPro website.
